This summer a dear friend of mine passed away. Mauricio Vigil was not only a beloved person but also a beautiful artist. Mauricio was born in Montevideo, Uruguay 1946. As a political opponent he was jailed in the notorious prison ironically called "Libertad" - freedom, and some of his strongest songs are written during this time. After managing to escape Uruguay he finally ended up in Sweden in 1974 where he settled down with his family. I was a part of Mauricios group in Sweden and i went two times with him to Uruguay to perform - moments that i will never forget.

As a musician you are involved in many different groups and projects, some of them just passes your life without leaving any trace and some of them stay in your hart. Mauricio was one of the artists that emotionally affected me most. His personality and big hart, his background and his beautiful and strong songs and lyrics all left a deep impression on me.

This song is one of my favorite songs from Maruricio that he wrote while being in prison - Jaula Grande. He sees how two birds starts to build a nest in the tree outside his window, and day after day he follows the birds and how the nest takes form.

Hasta siempre Mauri.
